Children's Unit, Riverton, UT

Riverton, UT
Riverton Hospital is a full-service medical center located in southwestern Salt Lake County. It provides family-friendly healthcare environments to this young, fast-growing community. The $102 million project comprises 350,849 sq. ft. among four connected buildings with separate but cohesive identities and a 10,348 sq. ft. Central Utility Plant (CUP). Typically, MEP systems for hospitals average about 33.5% of total construction cost, but at Riverton Hospital the MEP systems costs were only about 24% without sacrificing quality. Spectrum provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and acoustical engineering and lighting and technology design services in close collaboration with the contractor and others to provide value-added elements for the owner. The CUP supports the campus and a utility tunnel system distributes power, domestic water, softened water and heating and cooling to the four campus buildings, which are:

  • 81,199 sq. ft. Primary Children’s Medical Center outpatient facility with clinics, physician offices, four operating rooms and imaging.
  • 93,715 sq. ft. inpatient hospital housing six operating rooms, diagnostics, imaging, emergency department, labor and delivery and acute-care beds.
  • Four-level, 106,771 sq. ft. patient tower with patient rooms and education, dining and administration spaces.
  • 69,164 sq. ft. medical office building for physician offices and clinics.
