Mechanical Engineer

What You’ll Do
Design & Engineering
- Design HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems for commercial and institutional projects
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system modeling
- Prepare engineering calculations, layouts, and specifications aligned with industry codes and standards
- Select and specify equipment such as air handling units, pumps, boilers, chillers, ductwork, and piping systems
- Incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable design practices
Project Coordination
- Serve as the mechanical lead on assigned projects
- Collaborate with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Support project schedules and budgets alongside the Project Manager
- Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and assist during construction phases
- Visit project sites to observe installations and help resolve technical challenges
Quality & Mentorship
- Review designs and documentation to ensure quality and accuracy
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and designers
- Contribute to designs that are practical, maintainable, and built to last
Client Engagement
- Participate in client meetings to help define project goals
- Assist with proposals, including scope and fee input
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC and plumbing design within an AEC consulting environment
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (experience with Bluebeam and load calculation software like Trace 700, HAP, or EnergyPlus is a plus)
- Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, NFPA)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with extended periods at a computer
- Occasional site visits to support construction and field coordination
