The Melisa Nellesen Center for Autism is a community asset for the city of Orem and Utah Valley University. This new building has three primary proposes: providing education about autism, training for teachers of autistic children, and to provide state-of-the-art safe learning environments for autistic children and students.
This autism building has unique designs that cater to the needs of autistic children. For example, minimizing sensory input which can overwhelm a child with autism. Special attention was put into the design of lighting, acoustics, and texture. Spectrum Engineers provided electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, audio visual design, security, and structured cabling.
