Confidential National Laboratory Medium Voltage Distribution

Western United States

Spectrum Engineers served as the lead MEPT engineering firm for a $25 million medium voltage distribution expansion at a national laboratory campus. The scope included the design of a new 15kV underground duct bank system serving the east side of the facility, totaling approximately 7,200 linear feet and incorporating up to sixteen (16) 6″ conduits and two (2) 12-conduit jack-and-bore crossings.

The electrical design included 15kV power cabling, load grid switchgear (LGS) units, prefabricated e-houses, and a new SCADA system to eliminate single points of failure and support future campus growth. Supporting studies included fault current, arc flash, and coordination analysis.

To maintain schedule integrity, the team identified long-lead equipment early and issued procurement packages to mitigate risk. The project was delivered on time and within budget, with less than 0.5% design-related errors or omissions.
